“Wacky Witty Way-Out Songs”
to Benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters

Stillwater, OK. Children’s songwriter Monty Harper will perform at the Community Center Auditorium on March 25, 2003 at 7:00pm to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stillwater.

Harper will feature selections from his new CD, Take Me to Your Library, performed live with acoustic guitar and plenty of help from the audience. He will also take requests and will be on hand after the show for CD, cassette, and poster sales and signing.

Harper has first-hand experience with the Big Brothers program. He has volunteered as a big in four different matches spanning fifteen years of service. His last match ended when his “little” moved away.

“I haven’t sought a new match since I became a father two years ago,” says Harper, “so it’s great to have this opportunity to help out in another way. BBBS is such an important program. The benefit to the kids they serve is immeasurable!”

Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children with adult volunteers. Matched pairs of “bigs” and “littles” spend time together on a weekly basis. “We provide youth between the ages of 5-17 the opportunity to reach their full potential through the power of professionally managed mentoring,” says Amy Hoggatt, director of the Stillwater chapter.

Monty Harper, a Stillwater native, performs year-round at schools, libraries, festivals, and other events throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Northern Texas. He has released three commercial recordings of original songs for kids and also writes and records music for clients such as the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. Harper’s latest release, Take Me to Your Library, includes songs about reading and travel, by space, by land and by sea. For more information on Harper and his music visit www.montyharper.com.

Advanced tickets for Harper’s March 25 performance at the Community Center are available through the BBBS office, 1002 E Virginia, for a donation of $3 or more. Tickets will also be available at the door. All proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stillwater.

“A delightful family CD that both kids and parents can enjoy. Most of the songs celebrate the joy of reading in one way or another, while always shining with Monty's trademark wit, positive energy and upbeat creativity.” - Benjamin Bernstein, The BenJammin Examiner.
