A. Monty regularly performs throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Northern Texas. Monty is based in Stillwater, OK, and his basic fee covers a small amount of travel (including the OKC and Tulsa areas).
Monty is on the Mid-America Arts Alliance artist registry for 2007-2009. The Mid-America arts aliance can provide funding for programs in Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.
Monty occasionally travels beyond this area as well. It can't hurt to ask!
A. Yes. June and July constitute the summer reading season when Monty is very busy with library programs. He is also available during the school year for assembly programs, workshops, library programs, and evening shows.
Please check our schedule page for current information.
A. Reserve a date as soon as you can. Reserving a date does not obligate you to book Monty. What it means is we will call you if anyone else wants that date, to give you first dibs on it.
We usually call to confirm a reserved date four to six months in advance, depending on the season (earlier for summer). Once the date is confirmed we will send a contract.
If you want a summer date (June or July) you should contact us as soon as possible. Monty starts reserving his summer a year in advance and available dates become scarce by late February or early March.
A. Monty is a member of the Oklahoma Arts Council touring roster.
If you are an Oklahoma non-profit, non-religious entity, and you book Monty for a performance that is open to the public, you are eligible for funding through the OAC grant programs.
If you are a school bringing Monty in as a teaching artist for his SongWorks programs or songwriting workshops, you are eligible for Small Grant Support for Schools, which pays up to 75% of the fee.
The arts council has recently restructured their grant program, and some changes are ongoing.
For current information, visit the Oklahoma Arts Council Website.
A. The Oklahoma Arts Council will pay up to half the total fee (including travel and add-ons such as workshops) for eligible programs; and up to three fourths of the fee for teaching artist visits. You pay Monty in full on the date of the show, and the OAC sends a reimbursement to you once all the paperwork is filed.
A. Yes. See above for more information.
A. Well, it has recently become more complicated, that's true. But it is well worth the effort considering that it can enable you to bring arts education and experiences to your kids that you might not otherwise be able to afford. We will be available to help you through it and the friendly people at the arts council are also very helpful.
For more information please visit the Oklahoma Arts Council website.
