Summers 2001/2002

ScrapbookNext

Well here it is September of 2002, and I see that not only are we late getting some Summer 2002 pics posted, we never did post any from 2001. Oh, well, the Web marches on. I'll just mix in a few of last summer's photos with this summer's batch.

This summer was great as usual. I performed 50 shows in June and July, mostly library programs, throughout Oklahoma and Kansas.

Our daughter Evalyn, now a very outgoing toddler, had a ball this summer. She was our unofficial "greeter" when the audience arrived, and she loved "helping" Daddy push the equipment cart out the door at the end of each show. She learned that at each library there were books, toys and kids somewhere to be found, and she was determined to find them!

One thing about having Evalyn with us the past two years - neither Mom nor Dad had much chance to take photos or video. The pictures below were all sent to us by fans and/or librarians, and we appreciate them very much! If you have a photo from one of Monty's summer shows that you'd like to share, send it along and we'll put it up.

Enjoy!

Pioneer System Comments

We started our Summer '02 with a tour of the Pioneer Library System. The tour includes an evening program at Norman which is always incredibly fun. So many great fans show up to that one, and we just have a rocking good time! Anyway, the Pioneer libraries collect comments from kids and parents as a thank you to their sponsors, Hitichi and the Oklahoma Arts Council.

This drawing by Thomas Combs illustrates Monty's "Alien" song, "Take Me To Your Library." Thomas drew it during a program at the Young Writer's Conference April 20, 2002 in Yukon, OK. We're including it here because it's such a great illustration of one of the most popular songs from this summer's program.

This was our last gig of the season. Lisa entertains Evalyn during the show. Watonga. 7/31/2002.

In Watonga we make do, eeking out program space among the shelves in the back of the building. But we love it there because the audience is always great! (Plus we get cookies afterwards!) Watonga. 7/31/2002.
