Summer 1999

ScrapbookPreviousNext

The 1999 summer reading program theme in Oklahoma was "Yippi Yi Yo, Join the Read Stampede" so Monty put together a show called "Way-Out West." We had a "foot stompin', rope swingin' barrel of fun" travelling around Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, meeting new fans and picking out familiar faces or as they sometimes call themselves, "Monty Groupies."

- Monty and Lisa

Monty paints on the backdrop while an unfinished horny toad looks on, wondering what color it will be. 5/26/99

Monty is held up by a young desperado after the show in Muskogee, OK. Notice that the backdrop still has some evolving to do after this second day of programs. 6/2/99

The finished masterpiece! Each of the three panels is framed with postcards of strange and interesting sites from all over the American West. Included are the elusive "Jackalope," the worlds' largest pecan, and Big Foot. Are they real? Who can tell? 6/7/99

Warr Acres librarian, Alma Brown looks on as Monty draws a name for a poster giveaway. 7/28/99

Lisa is up to something here, judging from that grin, but we don't know what. She appears to be putting away the sales table after the Warr Acres program. 7/28/99

Still at large.
