Freedom Shines on America

Freedom shines on America
Can you see the light?
Freedom shines, freedom shines,
Freedom shines on America.

Can you hear the church bells ringing?
Can you hear the people singing?
Can you see the eagle in the sky?
Can you feel the spirit giving
Energy to keep on living?
Does it make you feel like you could fly?

Freedom shines on America
Can you see the light?
Freedom shines, freedom shines,
Freedom shines on America.

Did you see the towers falling?
Can you hear your duty calling?
Can you find a way to lend a hand?
Can you see our flag still blowing?
Can you feel the colors flowing?
Feel the hope that's rising in our land!

Freedom shines on America
Can you see the light?
Freedom shines, freedom shines,
Freedom shines on America.
Freedom shines, freedom shines,
Freedom shines on America.

This song was written by fourth graders during a cooperative workshop with Monty at Washington Grade Center in Ada, OK. The workshop happened just two months after 9/11.
